What is this class for?

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is designed for non-professional family caregivers.
Whether you are helping a parent, spouse, friend, someone who lives at home, in a nursing home, or across the country, Powerful Tools for Caregivers offer support and assistance with decision making.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an excellent resource for learning and applying tools for decision-making and self-care.

Includes How-To_Do-It Book!

Each participant in AARP’s Taking Care of You: Powerful Tools for Caregiving will receive a book to accompany the class content. This book contains 15 chapters including:
• Hiring in-home help
• Helping memory-impaired elders
• Making legal & financial decisions
• Making decisions about care facility placement
• Understanding depression
• Making decisions about driving

What does the class cover?

You will gain tools to:
• Help you reduce stress
• Communicate effectively with other family members, your doctor, and paid help
• Take care of yourself
• Reduce guilt, anger & depression
• How you relax
• Make tough decisions
• Set Goals & problem-solve
